Raizou about the team[1]

Yakushi High (薬師高等学校 Yakushi Kōtō Gakkō) is a high school located in Suginami, an urban district in Tokyo.

They were considered a "dark horse" during the West Tokyo Regional Tournament to qualify for the 89th Summer Koshien. They defeated Ichidaisan in the Third Round in a shocking upset. They were eventually defeated by Seidou High in the quarterfinals. During the tournament it established itself as a strong team led by Todoroki Raizou.

In the offseason leading up to the Tokyo Fall Tournament they won over 30 consecutive practice matches, including one against Seidou.

Yakushi reaches the finals of the Tokyo Fall Tournament qualifer for the 84th Spring Koshien, defeating Akikawa Academy and Ichidaisan along the way. They lost the Final to Seidou, however. Despite the loss and being the Fall Tournament runners up, Yakushi were also invited to participate in Spring Koshien along with Seidou. They received an extra bid that is given to either a Kanto regional or Tokyo regional team every Spring Koshien.

They reached the semifinals of the 84th Spring Koshien before losing to Osaka Seiseisha.

After their Spring Koshien experience and beginning the new season in the Tokyo Spring Metropolitan Tournament, they get shutout by a rejuvenated Inashiro in the third round, losing 4-0. This means they will not be a seeded team in the West Tokyo Regional Tournament qualifier for the 90th Summer Koshien.

Trivia[]

  • The school is loosely based off of Tokoha Daigaku Kikugawa (常葉大学附属菊川高等学校) a school out of Shizuoka prefecture. They are known for making both the Haru and Natsu Koshien tournaments in 2007-2008, reaching the semifinals once, the finals twice, and winning the 2007 Haru Koshien.
  • The Kanji for Yakushi means "Pharmacist" or "Chemist".
  • The U-16 baseball league closest to Yakushi is Midoriya Little Senior.
  • Because Yakushi is located in Suginami, it is actually a part of Eastern Tokyo, not Western Tokyo.
