The Two Batteries (Futatsu no Batterī, ふたつのバッテリー) is Episode 7 of the Diamond no Ace Anime series. The Episode follows the storyline from Chapters 17 to 19 of the manga.
Summary[]
Sawamura and Furuya are both given the pitcher training menu. Sawamura is assigned to work with Chris while Furuya teams up with Miyuki.
Synopsis[]
Sawamura’s down, but he’s not out. He allowed two runs in three innings, but he’s not dejected over the loss. He learned something. He knows that he’s not ready for the first string. After just three innings at this level, he’s tired and was almost overwhelmed. An ace has to last at least six innings at the MLB level, and hopefully seven or eight. But before he does that, he still needs his pitching to be under control.
The coach sees something in Sawamura, though: potential. And that could be more important than anything else. The kid knows how to work hard and throw baseballs and in practice, that’s all you need.
Sawamura gets into the second string team. He has to form a battery with Chris, while Furuya teams up with Miyuki.
Sawamura is slightly annoyed to team up with Chris and makes clear that he wants Miyuki as practice partner. Chris counterattacks with telling Sawamura, that he himself would prefer to be in charge of Furuya instead of him – the clumsy pitcher.
Their teamwork is not particularly good. Sawamura isn’t happy about Chris’ training, while Chris is slightly pissed because of Sawamura's stupidity and inexperience.
