Following Seidou's win against Ouya, Seiko Academy wins against Sensen Academy. Meanwhile, Inashiro Industrial have a scrimmage against Kokaidai Sagara.

The Seidou High players leave the dug-out. Sensen's Maki Yousuke stands in front of the door, and receives a swift scolding from Coach Ugai for blocking the way. The coach then briefly speaks to Kataoka, saying that Seidou is in great shape, having made it to the semis without their ace. Kataoka replies that it's the result of the players individual thinking. Yuuki commends Miyuki for the right calls, while Chris praise Sawamura's performance. Amongst the crowd, Furuya sees his grandfather, piquing the interest of his teammates.

Seidou stays to watch Sensen's match against Seiko. Up until the fourth inning, the match is dead even. On top of the fifth however, Seiko's batters attack and scores four runs. On top of the eighth, the score is 6-3, with Seiko leading by 3. At the bottom, Seiko Academy announces a change in players: Ogawa, a freshman pitcher replaces the ace Kojima, who will now play center field. Ogawa asks his catcher Masu, why he isn't the starter and Masu replies that it's because he messed up his eyebrows. The game resumes with a walk on four balls. Masu isn't happy.

Batting fifth for Sensen is Maki. He hits the ball straight onto the fence. The runner goes for home but is out on the plate. Seiko eventually wins the match and will face Seidou High in the semis. Miyuki thinks on how he can effectively lead Sawamura and Furuya. Ochiai thinks the two first years are strong spirited and aggressive, but against batters who swing a lot, Kawakami's pitching style would be most effective. Other teams to participate in the semis are also revealed: Yakushi High and Sankou.

Meanwhile, at Inashiro Industrial, the team have a scrimmage against Kokaidai Sagara. Narumiya gives up hits which the gallery found unusual, but notices that he seems more mature. Narumiya calls out Tadano asking why he called for an outside the last at-bat. Tadano explains, but Narumiya advice him on what lead is better. Tadano asks if Narumiya is trying to match him as the pitcher doesn't shake his head at his calls at all. He says he'll catch up to Narumiya but Narumiya calls him nosy, conceited, and overconfident. They bicker for a little making the gallery wonder if the battery is alright. In a flashback, Narumiya tells his second year peers that the current team is lacking compared to the last, and they've got to fill what they lack. The game resumes, and Inashiro wins the scrimmage. After that, Narumiya speaks with Harada.
