The Seidou High vs. Komadai Fujimaki match is a quarter-final match of the 84th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament.
Summary of the GameEdit
First Inning: Komadai's second year ace Hongou Masamune opens for the first time in the tournament. He throws a 150 km/h inside pitch right off the bat at Kuramochi and takes down Seidou's lead-off with a Splitter. Tojou and Haruichi are also struck out. Bottom of the inning, Komadai's lead-off hit Furuya's fastball and got on base. Komadai tries to execute a hit and run next, the batter was retired but the first base runner advanced to second. Furuya walks the third hole but struck out the fourth batter. The fifth batter hit a line drive between right and center for a two RBIs.
Second Inning - Third: Furuya manages to hold down Komadai's line-up while Hongou keeps Seidou's batters at bay. At the bottom of the third, Kanemaru stops a strong hit in a fine play.
Fifth Inning - Seventh: Top of the fifth, Hongou struck Furuya out. In the seventh inning, Haruichi was retired on a forced grounder. Hongou faces Miyuki next and gets a strike with the Splitter for the first pitch. Miyuki lands a hit on the second pitch and gets on base. At Furuya's at-bat, he hits between first and second but was retired at first while Miyuki advances to second. Despite having runner on 2nd with 2 outs, Hongou struck out Shirasu with his signature Splitter again and completely shutout Seidou's small window of opportunity.
Eighth Inning - Ninth: Top of the eighth, Maezono is sent as pinch hitter but was retired on a fly ball to left field. Batting next is Asou who struck out swinging. On top of the ninth, with 2 outs, Hongou retired Haruichi and scored a complete game shutout over Seidou.
