Seidou prepare for their upcoming match against Akikawa Academy. While at Akikawa, coach Ogata reveals his strategy to counter Furuya's high pitches.
Against Murata East, Seidou is up by eight after four innings. Kawakami's on the mound and Miyauchi's behind the plate. From the bleacher's watch Akikawa Academy's players. The young man's name is "Shun" who is asked by a teammate if he'll stop watching. Shun replies that it's easy to figure out a pitcher who simply throws fast. In his mind, he's concerned about Seidou's batting line-up, Kawakami and Tanba. In the bullpen, Furuya's practicing with Miyuki and Sawamura with Haruichi. Yuki hits a home run and it ends the game in five innings.
The team stays to watch the match between Akikawa and Tokamiyama. Akikawa's pitcher, Shunshin Yeung is a transfer student from Taiwan that fell in love with Japanese baseball. Miyuki tells Sawamura and Furuya to observe him for he has an amazing control- the skill that the freshmen pitchers lack. Akikawa wins and so practice begins. The team studies Shunshin's pitching and Chris assumes that he'll probably never throw in the middle. Kataoka tells his players they can’t be hesitating on their swings and to pressure the pitcher, they'll need bunts and speed.
The media flocks over observing Seidou's players and to see Furuya. Owada and Mine, journalists for Monthly baseball also arrive. Sawamura’s practicing with Chris and Kanemaru at-bat. Kawakami work with Miyauchi while Tanba throws on the net with Kataoka. Furuya is nowhere to be seen and Owada wonder where he could be. Miyuki sees Furuya taking a nap and is not pleased. He orders the freshman to wake up and to throw in the bullpen, but later on realizes that Furuya might not be used to the temperature as he just came from Hokkaido, hence, is also his first summer in Tokyo. Miyuki let's him throw a few in the bullpen but quickly lets him rest.
At Akikawa, the team practice with a machine that shoots at 160km/h. Coach Ogata's purpose is to have his players eyes adjust to the pitch to avoid swinging at Furuya's high pitches. Meanwhile, Shunshin is practicing with his own team, throwing against the starting batters. He says exactly where he’s going to throw and the batter tries to hit it. Ogata explains that it was Shunshin's idea as control is truly nurtured in games. He throws, dedicating each pitch to his parents, coach and teammates.
