Head To Head! (Makkō Shōbu!, 真っ向勝負) is Episode 6 of the Diamond no Ace Anime series. The Episode follows the storyline from chapter 13 to 16.
Summary[]
Sawamura gives his best to fire the first years up and finally gets the chance to stand on the pitching mound. He gets hit several times but isn’t affected at all which impresses most of the players and encourage them to continue. With this, Sawamura shows his potential to be the ace for the first time.
Synopsis[]
Sawamura’s on base, but everyone else has given up. They’re double digit runs behind and the coach is about to call the game. The sakura-haired boy asks for a player sub, sending himself as the pinch hitter. The kid hits a ball that’s far outside and it hits just inside the right field line. Sawamura slides into home and makes the first run of the game.
The first years got their first run and Sawamura’s going to pitch. And now that Sawamura’s finally on the mound, it’s three up, three down. And that’s not just three batters, that’s three pitches. Sawamura’s pitches are wild and the fastballs straight down the middle curve right at the end. Miyuki keeps saying that once Sawamura figures out what his pitch is, he’ll be a true ace.
Sawamura's not dejected after facing his roommate, Masuko in a battle of power, though. He just lost outright and Sawamura is pumping his team up, not the other way around. Rei says that the way he pumped his team of amateurs up in junior high was the mark of a true ace. Sawamura’s showing that off again and he’s impressing the coach.
